NO CRATES OR KENNELS!

DOGS ROAM FREELY

About Us

  • Hi I’m Alexis. I am the sole owner and employee of Bark and Breakfast. My friends and family say I truly am a "dog whisperer." I've owned pets my whole life and taken care of them since I was a teen. I've:

-rescued animals from dumpsters and abusive situations.

-raised animals who were paralyzed, abandoned, blind, had skin allergies, cancer, and even more rare conditions.

-worked with dogs who are aggressive, and broken up fights.

-walked five dogs at a time, bathed multiple dogs at once, and had ten or more dogs over for my puppies birthday.

-administered vaccines, subcutaneous fluids, and other controlled and non-controlled substances.

-trained puppies and older dogs (training for dogs provided for an additional fee).

I love giving any dog a bath, checking for bugs and tics, and even blow drying their hair. But my favorite activity is doggie photoshoots! All stays come with printed photo of your pup to take home.

  • DOGS HAVE THE RUN OF THE HOUSE HERE.

I DO NOT crate unless absolutely necessary

My home is EXTREMELY clean; like eat off of the floor clean.

I do not board cats or birds. I will however, come to your house and care for them in their traditional environment.

    They have:

-three fenced in sections: the largest is about 4-5 acres. Any dog who is well behaved will have free range in this area all day weather permitting. The second fenced in section is for any dog who is prone to escaping, or for a quick potty during poor weather conditions. The final section is a small enclosed area designed for a single dog who needs to be alone for medical or other reasons. Due to the size of this area I can only accommodate one dog at a time with these specific isolation needs.

-full run of the 2700sq ft indoors

-2 ball pits with over 3000 balls and a slide

-three varying sized crates if your dog needs to be crated for any reason

-microfiber couches that are easy to clean and soft to snuggle on. all animals are welcome on all furniture

-toys in every corner of the house: balls, stuffed animals, durable KONG toys, cattle horns and hooves

-large marble tub, with detachable shower head for bathing

-self scooping cat litter boxes so dogs never have access to poop

-7 different sized and material dog beds, including a heated bed, and a cooling mat

-baby gates for dogs who want privacy

I love going for long walks and taking all the dogs to the park in my SUV or large truck. It has a big dog bed in the back, a small one up front, and a cover in the middle, so everyone can get cozy. Going shopping at local pet friendly stores and getting ice cream is another one of our favorite activities on rainy days.

I keep my house clean and pristine, but I love having the animals up on the furniture and in my bed to snuggle. With your permission I will provide all organic, American made treats as a reward for all dogs who potty outside or present good behavior. There are 4 cameras currently on the premises and dogs will be monitored by them in the event I have to leave.

  • My entire world is my pets. I'm a full time dog mom, period. My fur babies and I look forward to hosting your fur babies and treating them like one of our own.

I am more than willing to work with handicapped or special needs pets.

If you are interested in booking a stay, please call to discuss further details and set up a meet and greet, so your pup isn't afraid the first time they stay with us.

Additionally, please allow yourself enough time prior to your trip as there is a two-step process to getting established. The first step is an hour-long consultation, the "meet and greet." This is where we will introduce our dogs and get to know each other. We'll take a tour of where your pup will be staying, confirm they are agreeable to this environment, and have no signs of aggression. If you are aware that your dog has food aggression or other territorial behaviors, please let me know so I can give them some privacy during mealtime. During the consultation we will also discuss allergies, food or skin, and any previous or current injuries that may flare up during the stay.

The second step to getting established is a trial. The trial will mimic whatever type of care you're looking for. Boarding dogs will trial overnight, day care dogs during the day, and walking/drop-in clients at home. Keep in mind first time boarders or day care dogs may need more than one day to settle in, so please allow enough time to bring your dog more than once prior to their stay if you have concerns about anxiety.

The rate for care will be determined by the trial. I reserve the right to charge puppy rate for any dog who goes to the bathroom inside the house or demonstrates excessive puppy behavior beyond 18 months of age. If you have an un-spayed female, please provide a diaper bag in the event she gets her period. Any unfixed dog is required to wear diapers.

    IMPORTANT***

All bookings require proof of vaccinations. I require Rabies, Distemper, Parvo, and Lepto. For more information on each of these vaccines scroll down to "vaccines explained."

There are no consultations or trial stays on national holidays.

You must provide food for your dog during their stay. In the event your dog runs out of food, or is brought without any, a homecooked meal will be provided for them at the cost of $5-$15 per meal. Price varies based on weight. Under 40lbs, $5; 41-75lbs, $10; and over 75lbs, $15.

There is a three-day cancellation policy for overnight bookings. If you cancel with less than 72 hours notice you will be charged 50% of your booking fee. Day care visits require 24-hour cancellation. Cancelling with less than 24 hours notice will result in a $20 missed appointment fee.

If you arrive more than 30 minutes late to your booking you will be charged a $15 late fee. If you have not yet arrived an hour after your appointment you forfeit your time slot and must reschedule. This will also result in a $20 missed appointment fee.

There is a $50 per-day abandonment fee if you fail to pick up your dog more than 24 hours after your scheduled pick up time.

If you have a dog that is destructive, please be honest with me about it. If you tell me your dog does not need to be crated and they cause any damage, you will be charged. You are responsible for ALL damages caused by your dog during their stay. You will be required to replace ANY and ALL items your dog destroys. Failure to do so will result in legal action.

  • What is Rabies?

Rabies is a viral disease that affects the nervous system of mammals, including humans. It is typically transmitted through a scratch from an infected animal, or saliva from a bite. The virus travels from the site of the infection starting with symptoms such as tingling, inflammation, fever, and muscle weakness; making its way to the brain, leading to headaches, anxiety, confusion, hallucinations, aggressive behaviors, muscle spasms, paralysis, and ultimately death. Once symptoms appear, rabies is almost always fatal.

    What is Distemper?

Distemper is a highly contagious viral disease that attacks the respiratory, gastrointestinal, and nervous systems. It is contracted through respiratory secretions, contaminated objects, or airborne exposure to droplets released by coughing or sneezing. Symptoms include: fever, nasal discharge, coughing, lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea, and neurological symptoms such as twitching, seizures, and paralysis.

    What is Parvo?

Parvo, short for parvovirus, is a highly contagious and potentially deadly viral illness. Affecting primarily puppies and dogs with weak immune systems, parvo attacks the gastrointestinal tract and the immune system itself. Symptoms include severe diarrhea, vomiting, lethargy, and dehydration.

    What is Lepto?

Lepto, short for leptospirosis, is a bacterial disease that can affect both animals and humans. It is typically spread through the urine of infected animals. Dogs can also contract lepto through contact with contaminated water, soil, or food. Common symptoms include fever, muscle weakness, vomiting, and jaundice.
